"Good Practice in the Clinical Laboratory"
Richard Daw has written this introduction:
These are unsettled times in many laboratories with threats of laboratory closure, take over or merger in various places. It is important with this upheaval the laboratory not to lose sight of the important principles of good practice and quality management. Particularly so with the increasing expectations of clinical compliance bodies and other government agencies over and above the historical accreditation relationships with CPA and ISO15189.
Good practice, and just as importantly the demonstration of good practice is at the heart of compliance regimes which might generically be called GxP Blood Banks are now used to the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Laboratories who undertake work for clinical teams involved in trials work will have come across Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is an acknowledged term with generally applies to testing laboratories working at the pre-clinical end of the drugs trial and not strictly relevant to the clinical laboratory, but Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GcLP) should be acknowledged by laboratories who have links with clinical teams working with GCP.
This is all very confusing, so AQMLM are offering this symposium on the theme of 'Good Practice' which, along the way, we hope will elucidate some of these regulatory requirements and their implications for the clinical interface and patient safety."
November 2009 Symposium outcome
You may download a pdf of the November 2009 Evaluation Summary chart here. The chart shows in histogram format, the mean of the scores given by delegates attending for each element of the Symposium and each presentation. I hope you will agree that this was a very satisfactory result for our first meeting!
You may request electronic copies of the presentations given at the Symposium using the form on the Contact Us page. These will be emailed free of charge on request to all paid up AQMLM members, irrespective of whether they attended the Symposium, and those non-members who attended the Symposium. A charge of £25 for the complete set of presentations is payable by non-members who did not attend the Symposium, but this charge will be waived for those who join AQMLM.
When requesting copies of the presentations, please provide an email address that is able to receive emails with attachments from a Gmail account, and has an attachment capability of at least 8Mb. If either does not apply, please contact us for instructions.
