1st September 2010 - Important information As advised in the Summer Newsletter, very soon we will be switching on the completely revised and improved website at this domain. All members should receive an email to this effect when the new site goes live. All should then log on as soon as possible to ensure that their details are correct, to renew their membership (all expire on 30th September 2010) and to register for the 2010 'Good Practice' Symposium on 22nd November 2010. Thank you!
We are still awaiting feedback from members with regard to their suggestions for future activities. We need your views! However, we have decided to plan a meeting on "Good Practice in the Clinical Laboratory" for 22nd November 2010. Richard Daw has written an introduction, which may be found on the Activities page. Programme details and online registration will open shortly on the Event Registration page.

We have changed the Symposium presentation email system to accommodate the problems so far encountered. Each delegate will now receive 5 emails, one with two small files attached and four with one large file attached, the last being over 3Mb. So far, these appear not to have 'bounced'.

We have begun emailing copies of the Symposium presentations to Members, but already have encountered difficulties with some email addresses. Please ensure that the email address you provide is able to receive emails with
attachments from a Gmail account, and that it has an attachment capability of at least 8Mb. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please
contact us for instructions.Thank you.

We have been getting registration requests from individuals as far afield as New Zealand and Nigeria. Whereas we are delighted with this response, our current policy is that we are not registering anyone from outside the UK and nearby Europe, as they may not be able to benefit fully from our principal activities - Symposia, Workshops, Seminars - which are based in the UK. However, we will keep anyone interested in AQMLM on our email contact list for when our dedicated Members web site is operational (hopefully by the end of the year). This will carry educational materials and copies of presentations which will be downloadable by any member irrespective of location.
News_003 5th July 2009
We now have close to 60 members and have received enquiries from two potential groups. Organisations are also approaching us to put links to them on our websites.
AQMLM now has a registered address which should be used for all written communications (note we would still prefer to work paper-free whenever possible). This is:
AQMLM PO Box 15252 Birmingham B16 6HD
Later on in the summer, we will be creating the 'Members Only' area of the website, which will have secure login, document sharing and download facilities.
Enjoy the holiday season!

We are now actively planning our inaugural Symposium, which we propose to hold towards the end of November or early December. The venue has not yet been chosen, but the location is likely to be the West Midlands. This will be clarified once we know likely numbers.
As yet we have not received any suggestions for topics - please don't be shy!!

News_001 8th May 2009
Since the informal launch of AQMLM at the WMCLQMA meeting at the end of March, some 25 individuals have registered through this website. They will be receiving their invoices and subsequently their welcome letters shortly. This will be done electronically by email according to our paper-free policy.
During the next month or so, a more widespread publicity and promotion campaign will be launched with news items in ACB News, Biomedical Scientist and the RCPath Bulletin. There will also be opportunities for promotion at ACB Focus 2009 in Liverpool. However, a major effort will be made at the IBMS Congress in September.
By that time we should be in a position to announce our inaugural Symposium, which we hope will be before the end of the year. It would be extremely helpful to us in organising this event if we could have your suggestions for topics and speakers. Please use the 'contact us' form to let us know.
